Meet Ann Brummitt: Trailblazer for Milwaukee’s Waterways
After spending 20 years teaching French for Milwaukee Public Schools, Ann’s drive to explore and pursue a path of environmental activism led her to start the Milwaukee River Work Group: A grassroots collective protecting 878 acres along the Milwaukee River. Ann has spent decades dedicating her time to environmental conservation and education for Milwaukee’s waterways. Without Ann’s incredible work towards responsible stewardship for Milwaukee’s waterways, our city and its natural landscape would not be as enriched and vibrant for years to come.

Christina has over 10 years of experience practicing law in the financial services industry, including consulting, training, and writing on issues related to financial planning, insurance, planning for business owners, trusts and estates, retirement planning, charitable giving, and tax planning. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and serves as a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee. FGPM was honored to speak with Terri about her background and invaluable work in the DEI space, the value of strong DEI programs in our multi-generational workforces, and her best advice for young professionals, including how to effectively engage with mentorship.

Building Relationships: An Interview with Makda Fessahaye
FGPM is thrilled to announce our most recent community leader Interview with Makda Fessahaye, attorney at law and Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In her role, Makda oversees all human resources initiatives for UWM - which employs over 6,700 staff and serves more than 24,000 students - as well as consults to the University Chancellor's Cabinet, Deans, and shared governance on human resources related matters. Makda previously served in the cabinet of former Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Mayor Cavalier Johnson as the City of Milwaukee’s Chief Human Resources Officer, as well as served within several recent administrations of note across the state of Wisconsin. Among her many accolades, Makda has been honored with the Wisconsin Women in Government Rising Star Award, Madison365's Most Influential Black Leaders, In Business Greater Madison's 40 Under 40, and Milwaukee Business Journal’s 40 Under 40.

We couldn’t do this without your support
In an effort to make FGPM as accessible to young professionals as possible, we have decided to forego membership dues for both general membership and participation in the Mentorship Program. For this reason, we are seeking public support through donations to continue to further our mission. FGPM is a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible.
